Driving along the northern coast of France you cannot help but notice one the crown jewels of Brittany. Saint Malo sits on the sea with its safe harbor for hundreds of sail boats and skiffs in the surrounding bay. The port was once a privateer headquarters that became very wealthy and is now a charming half day stop over to stroll through the streets, window shop and grab some nice seafood dishes at one of the many fine eateries on the main entrance to the town before moving onto Mont St Michele or into Brittany. Make sure to climb the seawalls and stroll its ramparts for photo opportunities. Then scan the streets for the good shopping and pub scenes. Its a refreshing little village well worth exploring!
