Toledo, Spain

This charming alcazar is about a 30 minute train ride from Madrid Toledo is purposefully laid out like a typical Muslim maze on a steep incline to confuse would-be invaders. It has changed hands many times during the crusades, shifting between Moorish and Christian hands.  It was famous for its metalworking processes making some of the finest steel beginning around 500 BC.
